is there a trick to getting the shifter in properly after taking it out?
I took mine out today to take out the center console carpet (i couldn't get the knob off the shifter so i took out the shifter) and now when i put back the shifter in (with the spring on the bottom of course) it goes in fine, but then i can only shift 1-4 and when i put the stick down i think its going into 6 and R but it won't go into 5th. any suggestions? anyone had this problem?

Squeezer,
Check to see that you put the shifter back in the correct orientation correctly. It is not symmetrical, although it seems that way. Also, it can be difficult to correctly seat the shifter even when it is in the correct orientation. I would suggest you take the shifter out and re-seat it. It is a tight space and is a little tricky to secure the triangular plate while still keeping the shifter in the correctly seated.
Good luck.
