Is there easier way to replace crank angle sensor?

Is there easier way to replace crank angle sensor?
After diagnosing a faulty crank angle sensor on my AP1 I set forth to replace it.
Its not the easiest to get to & so far i have removed water pump pulley, belt pre tensioner & alternator. This has given me enough room to get the sensor out but the plug & wiring to the sensor goes behind a water pipe & there is not enough clearance to pull the plug through (even though I unbolted the pipe where its bolted to the block).
It looks like i have to drain the coolant & remove at least one end of the pipe to allow the plug to pass through. I ran out of time to do this on the weekend so i will tackle this next weekend. But I'm curious if anyone has found an easier way to remove the sensor as i find it hard to believe Honda made it so ridiculously hard to replace.
Any ideas?

Thank you both for your advice. I'm confident with my diagnosis at the error was straight from my scanner. Checked the resistance between pins 1 & 2 had open circuit.
I've been chasing this fault for a while. Intermittently the engine would idle ok but anything over 1000 rpm & it would break up & go into limp mode. Turn it off for a while & it would usually be ok. It would always log the same error, but the sensor checkout ok every time i tested it . But this time it was open circuit.
I'll try to depin but i think you need a tool for the DT connector

A very fine 1-2mm flat head screwdriver is usually enough for de-pinning.
Can't remember the connector style but I got a spare sensor laying in my garage so will check later today.

Just did a check and it's really easy to de-pin, first you pull the white plastic thing straight out.
Then you got this view bellow, carefully push the metal pin up and at the same time pull on the cable, it should come out pretty easy.
Just for reference my sensor measured 2100ohm between 1 and 2.

Can this sensor prevent the car from starting. I think that's my issue.
