OMFG! I've had a Honda dealership screw up my minivan, never let anyone of them touch my S2k. knowledgable locals and lurking UTH have saved me for terrors like this one.

Even if they change the fluid to the correct stuff, the diff may still go south one day. Keep all your documentation on this. It can take a few miles or a few hundred miles to cause permanent damage. I think they've just bought you a brand new diff.
BTW, I've seen reports that Honda USA issued a warning about using that VTM-4, dual pump fluid in our diffs. I'm sure your dealer has it buried someplace in their computer system.
Yeah , I saw those xviper . We're gonna dig through all the service bulletins/updates tomorrow - whether they like it or not . I know they exist (because of this site) .

Wrong washer on the filler bolt was causing the leak . Wrong fluid was also confirmed . Washer and fluid replaced , everything documented , and we're good to go !! Diff appears normal so far , but , like I said , should it fail , all is documented . Thanks ssap1 (and Lee) !!

This particular dealer was unaware of this problem , by their own admittance . I talked with the actual service manager (whom was understanding , and completely accomodating) and from what I understand there will be a "flag" put into their system to stop this from happening again to anybody . Soooo , I have to give them a big for actually trying to be proactive . Overall , it was a pleasant experience dealing with said dealership . No hassle at all - "we screwed up , we'll fix it , and try to stop it from happening again . " You can't get that everywhere . But , I'll stop being lazy and change my own fluids from this point on .

Southeastern Honda in Palm Bay was the same way.

They admitted they knew nothing about the S2000 as they are like "hen's teeth" to them. They were happy to listen to me spout off all the important things they should know...chiefly the diff fluid.
