Test pipe rattle?
Okay, i have a very annoying rattle at 3800 - 4500k ish... really bad on the down revs. Very high pitch.. like one of those small bells... only very fast.
I was running a T1R TP + T1R 63mm exhaust and i figured that it was the exhaust, so i swapped it with a Apexi GT Spec and i got the same damn rattle! i look under the car and everything is TIGHT. nothing is in the trunk moving around, and there is nothing in the spare tire area..
So any thoughts? I read in acouple other threads that T1R test pipe might somehow be the culprit?
I installed the stock CAT, and the rattle went away (so did 75% of the exhaust sound amazingly).... but i still just dont see how a straight pipe would cause any kind of rattle at all... any thoughts?

I think i know what your talking about because i have the same test pipe. Before I put the test pipe on, i looked at it and i think it's something inside it - kinda weird since it's only a hallow pipe. If i remember, i think there's some kind of inner lining in the test pipe and that's what's making the sound.
But then again your sound could be totally different from what i THINK you're hearing. Does it sound like an electric buzzing sound? Mines sound more like a buzzing sound than a rattle. A rattle to me would be something like the exhaust piping too close to the underbody of the car to create a constant tapping sound.

I had this on my 06 when I put in a test pipe with my stock exhaust. It was like a ringing noise more than a rattle. Extremely annoying. A local Honda tech told me it was harmonic distortion of the engine vibration against the exhaust path. AKA some pipe is too close to something that resonates like that so you just amplify it with the test pipe. After I got my new exhaust, all that was fixed. Running T1R tp with Mugen dual.

Um.. i guess that sounds right. Running the cat got rid of it. It is more of a ringing. It doesnt sound like anything is hitting anything, or if it is it isnt hard at all.
and yeah extremely annoying is an understatement lol...
i just wonder if this has anything to do with the slight change in the exhaust channel in the MY06+...
I think im going to try a new TP (70mm) + new exhaust.. for the 2nd time.
