Default Test pipe install problems

Is there any easy way to get to the bolt on top of the cat that is connecting to the header?

I got the bottom one off pretty easily but I can't seem to reach the top bolt...

I dont have air tools just regular ol' sockets and wrenches.

thanks.

Do you have a 12" extension that you can use? Should not be that hard.

Put the bottom bolt back on and tighten it down some, It will take some of the pressure off the top one. I'd spray it with a WD40 or equal a couple times. These 2 bolts usually come off pretty easy, its the 3 on the other side that are more problematic.

There are two spring bolts at the manifold and three at the cat back, be sure you have a wrench holding the nut on the manifold side of the flange. I always use two box end wrenches, hold the side with the nut and turn the side with the spring, remeber pull the spring side towards you to loosen. Both are 12mm.

You're right.. You need a wrench for the nut on those bolts...

I got the three bolts off pretty easily. Its just that I'm working with only two jack stands on one side (passenger), so I don't have much room to work with. I'm going to try again in a little. I'll be sure to update you guys.

Oh, and I'll probably figure it out when I take it off... but do I need to re-use the springs with my new bolts on the TP?

Thanks guys.

Ops.. I bought the test pipe used and it only came with two bolts. So I thought I had to use them for the front two holes. I was confused for a minute but figured it out quickly once I saw the bolts on the old cat.

anyways, I got the last bolt off, with the use of the 12" extension (thanks).

I still haven't installed the test pipe because it came with no gaskets.

Do I really need the gasket between the manifold and the TP? if so, will the auto store have one?

You will need the donut gasket, but you can re-use the stock one....
Regarding the 3-hole gasket, the only place that will have it will be a Honda dealer, but you can also get away with high temp gasket maker from a local auto parts store..

Weird.. I went to the dealership today and the guy said theres no gasket; only the donut one.

But yeah, I just went ahead and installed it with out the 3-hole gasket. I'll probably get one of those gasket makers this weekend.
