Test pipe emissions test

Test pipe emissions test
I've done a couple of searches and have come up empty handed, might not be looking hard enough.
How are the people with a test pipe getting past a plug in emissions test? I really don't want to have to change it back to stock every two years unless I need some type of warranty work done. My 08 has a warranty for another 3 years but I still want to do a couple of thing like intake and exhaust. So, how do I pass an emissions test with a test pipe?
Any links to what I would need to read or buy would be greatly appreciated.

I know someone that will not see the mods but a computer doesn't lie. He's told me that as long as I don't have a CEL on I should pass. But how do I do that I've heard if the check engine light fix but does it really work?

It only takes about 20 minutes max to swap back and forth. Easiest to do while getting an oil change. The cars already off the ground at that point and its only like 6 bolts

What state? Check if your state tests with a tail pipe sniffer on obd2 cars. As far as I know CA is the only state to test obd2 cars with sniffers. Don't quote me but I think most states only use the plug test. If your car has no cel you should be good. But with an 08 you will probably get a cel.

Many states simply look for a CEL but if the equipment does not communicate properly it uses probes... and if it fails that test the retest will require use of probes.
I use a Mugen competition ECU that worked with the state systems (in two states) for a few years but revised state software in the last six or seven years no longer accepts the ECU so they pull out the probes and I fail.
So I swap the stock ECU back in for smog tests and change back to the Mugen after it passes.
