More preload wil mean a stiffer ride, just like it sounds. It is preloaded, compressing the spring when the car is at rest. If you picture a loose spring held between your hands, push your hands together "preloading" the spring, it's stiffer right?

Hope this helps.
Rob what you say makes sense since a stiffer pre-loaded spring would be tighter I guess.....but if what you say is true, than MC21 said just the opposite...haha

You guys are confusing me....

My car is super bouncy and it's on the absolute softest setting right now so I know I must have messed up somewhere since when I hit potholes or any road bumps I feel like the whole car DROPS into the bump and hits so hard.

So assuming my car is bouncy with the harsh ride due to too much pre-load, I have to make my spring "looser" between the first to collars and then use my bottom collar to re-adjust the ride height?

Don't mean to bring up an old thread, but I had similar issues with my buddyclubs. Turns out adjusting the preload a little can make a huge difference and it's probably better to get your suspension tuned at a shop that knows what they're doing. My preload on the left side of the car was stiffer than the right side when I first got them since I got them used and the car behaved just fine. I decided to adjust the passenger side preload to make it even with the drivers side and after doing so, it felt like I was driving some sort of mexican truck because the car literally just bounced up and down the whole time, even when the road was fairly smooth.

Any explanation to this?

im thinking about buying these w/edfc for my ap2.

none of the pictures worked for me. i am interested in where the best place to mount the edfc would be.

would it fit in the front part of the coin/cup holder? and will it sit low enough to shut the sliding door?

Thanks

I also have the tein flex and have similar problems. I took it to an authorized dealer to have it set up. Here is what I have experenced. The front preload was to loose when I purchaced it and the back was to tight. The dealer set the front springs with about 2-3mm of free travel with no weight on. The back he set with the springs just seated ( no travel ). Ride height was set the same as factory. He then corner weighed the car and made more adjustments??? The ride improved but I'm still not happy. The ride is either too soft or too hard, I can't seem to dial it in right. When I hit expansion bumps on the highway it feels as though I become airborne. Setting at 16-16. If I stiffin it up 12-12 or 10-12 it feels like it slams into the bumps. I just drove an 06 and think I'm going to go back to stock. Its my daily ride so I'd like to be more comfortable. Also my controler is mounted on the right side of the column on the bottom of the dash. It's a good location and easy to get to while driving. Sorry to be so wordy.

Tein EDFC is definitely the most hottest coilovers, I dunno why other spring makers don't do this too.

I have a question for people with Tein EDFC, can you make the settings to softer than OEM to a point where it is comfortable for highway driving on bumpy roads like 405 south in L.A.?

Even on the softest setting it wouldn't be softer than OEM.
However, at 15F/15R it is comfortable on the highways.

All this talk of the Tein EDFC is getting my bodily juices boiling... how much does it cost for a set of these for the S2K?
