Default TCT TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER

ok after reading about 19 page about TCT I would like to start this thread since it looks like its one of the cause thats making this problem.

up until today no one really know what the hell is causing this.

so i will start this....

I USED

MOBIL ONE FOR ABOUT 3 1/2 YEAR noise started around almost 6-8 months now. about 3 thousand miles ago i decided to try out the castrol syn. oil. well it stop for about 1k then it started again.

NOW MY QUESTION

how many of you is using mobil 1 and have this problem my car has 74k on it never drivin hard vtec once or twice every 3-4 months yea yea yea........ i know.

anyways i would like to know maybe mobil 1 might be causing this problem....

i will be doing the tct change tomorrow. i hope i can do the video DIY.....

i use amsoil and had TCT issues at 90K miles.

i been using castrol gtx and never had a tct go bad yet! i replaced the tct at 42k and now i have 80k and still no tct noise! but my valve train has always been noisy compared to other motors.

Mobil 1 since I bought it with 50k. Now has 61k and I just replaced the TCT.

I use Mobil1 and replaced TCT at 54K....planning to switch to Amsoil or Redline soon though

On my third... Mobil1.

In my case at 113k, it was discovered that my oil pump wasn't delivering enough oil pressure.

My theory:
The root cause of some S2k's TCT issues may be a failing oil pump which is not providing enough pressure, which in turn makes the TCT make the clacking sound.

used to use royal purple, now switched to castrol gtx, never had the tct problem, im at 127k miles

i'm tempted to use conventional since it's so damn cheap compared to synthetic...

If you actually use synthetic oil to its recommended interval, you will save $$ in the long run. Why people change synthetic every 3k is beyond my realm.
