TCT needs replacing?
Hey all,
I'm noticing a strange noise when my car is idling. From the looks and sounds of it, I'm almost 100% sure it's the TCT (Timing Chain Tensioner) that needs replacing.
Just to be on the safe side as I'm ordering parts before going to my mechanic, I've uploaded a small video clip on youtube with the noise.

Can someone please listen to it and confirm it is the TCT? Also, if it is, any ideas where I can get one from online? (postage to Malta or UK)
Many thanks!

question: i've noticed a slight increase in engine noise over the past month or so. the clicking noise isn't as noticeable as shown in the video. does anyone think this is somewhat of a precursor to the much discussed TCT needing replaced?
i just passed the 80k on the odometer.

Depends, could just be time for a valve adjustment, or normal clicking of injectors, but if it sounds as rapid in frequency as in the video then answer is yes.
If you find your TCT is starting to go bad you can just do as I did and take out the TCT disassemble it, sandblast the wormgear to just remove the "shine". Reassemble, retract the piston with 5mmX0.8mmX50mm bolt through the oil jet hole (removed with flat head screwdriver) and nut to lock it in retracted position during reinstall. Tighten the mounting bolts first then remove the "retracting bolt and nut". Reinstall oil jet and cap. No more TCT noise for me. HTH
