Default Taking off I/M ap1 couple quick questions

My first post ever, after years of lurking. Woot!!

2001 w/ 128,xxx

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of taking off the intake manifold. I'm doing many things under the hood, a/c removal, cc removal, basic clean up, valve seals, and other random stuff. Anyways I'm looking at the manifold and theirs a bronze round object at the rear, I think a air something. Anyways from that and from the rear of the manifold are two small vacuum lines. These two lines run to a box on top of the steering rack, what's the idea behind those two components?

If I removed the air pump from the fender, will those two components be taken out with it? Until then do they have to stay in place?

Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!!

Hi there, sounds like you are describing the EGR valve.
Yes if you remove the air pump you can put a blanking plate over that instead.
But keep in mind that you will get a Check Enginge Light if you run a stock ecu and don't fool it somehow.

Blanking plate

Air pump and a bunch of other crap that went out with it

Awesome response, with pics too!

Hmm I guess I could take it all out while everything is taken apart. It would be easiest I suppose. Then follow up with with a stand alone ecu later, or the izzy CEL gadget. I'll look around, but I'm sure there are specific vendors that make that block off plate?
