Synthetic Vs. Natural Oil
I have just bought a new 2004 NFR S2000, but I have yet to take delivery of it.
I have already heard a couple of conflicting views regarding synthetic oil. Whereas I don't actually have the car yet, I don't have the owner's manual to consult either. I wanted to get some people's opinions on the issue so that I am prepared when it becomes time to select an oil for my car.
I am interested to see how many people use synthetic vs. natural oil?
What affect (if any) can the synthetic oil have on the car's engine (especially the VTEC system)?
Is one better than the other for daily driving? Performance driving?
When is the best time to switch from natural to synthetic oil?
Does it make any difference what type of oil you use when you add performance modifications?

still i think most people use natural oil for the first thousand miles or break in and switch to synthethic, technically it last longer has better protection, and stuff so synthethic always appealed to me

Just for the record ... I have tried searching ...
I assume it has something to do with the recent upgrade, but every time I have tried to search the forums recently I get the generic "Error Occured" message.

Yes, the search feature has not been working, so I think in this instance, a little leeway can be granted.
If you are contemplating a change to synthetic, please read your owner's manual when you get it. Honda deals with this topic in specific reference to this car.
Take a look at this thread and you may get a clue as to why Honda put this subject in the owner's manual and what could happen in some cases if you don't listen:

The answers to most of your other questions are purely personal preference and beliefs. The ones I'll comment are:
You should monitor your oil consumption carefully for several thousand miles. Cars that use considerable oil should remain on "regular" oil till this consumption decreases and stabilizes. Cars that don't seem to use any oil from the beginning have been known to start using oil later on. You should have a good idea about this if you monitor for the time frame I mentioned.
The only known performance modification that I'm aware of that requests the use of synthetic oil is F.I.
