Synthetic Change Over?
When can you change over to synthetic oil and can you change over to soon?
Could this harm the engine if you use synthetic to soon?
Should I change back over.
I'm stock and use v- tech. Of course the dealer didn't make any comment about this.
Got the car w/ 2454 and had the dealer do a oil change w/ syn.
I'm at 4400 now.
Help put my mind at ease.

Mineral based oils allow the piston rings and gaskets to properly break in. On here I think the general concensus is 10,000 miles. If I were you I would switch back over. Since the dealer switched it over to synthetic I would ask them to perform a compression test to ensure that the rings are still holding compression. I bought my S used and I am currently having my bottom end rebuilt (Piston Rings) and a full top end kit (all the gaskets) and they said they are putting regular Mineral based oil back in and that I should keep it in there for atleast 5k (I will wait 10k). Synthetic does not properly break in the rings and gaskets.

You shouldn't change over to synthetic before 10,000 miles so the engine can break in properly.
Pssst, v-tech makes phones. Your engine has vtec.
