Realistically, if I were looking at picking up a new tranny, I'd probably buy a used AP2 and consider rebuilding or at least inspection.
I'd love to have my 4.77s with and AP2 tranny. But if a supercharger ever showed up, a tire width upgrade would no doubt be necessary.

You could always go with the upgrade from AJ-Racing by using the Carbonetic Final Gear in the tranny. By doing this you basically get a AP2 tranny with your AP1 and using your AP1 case. A much more cost effective way, you have to get a AP2 secondary shaft in order to use this. It can be found here:
