Symptoms of an over rev'd engine?
Hey guys, my dumbass over rev'd my freshly swapped F22 to 9K for a split second, because of a downshift plus I am still running an AP1 ECU and I was wondering what the tale tale signs of an over rev'd engine? I mean, the engine still runs strong and smooth(but I can't really tell, because my axles vibrates under hard acceleration). There is no CEL nor rough idle. I barely did it just now, and haven't had the chance to open up the valve cover and inspect anything. I feel like a jackass right now. If it's over rev'd should it idle rough?

Yeah, I was just scared, because I was doing about 80 on 6th and downshifted to 3rd and it jumped straight to 9k. That axle vibration just made me think I screwed up my engine. I thought I mechanically over reved the engine to over ~10k. After reading up on the max speed per gear I realized 3rd goes to around 85-90 @9k. Right? I'm using an AP1 Tranny.

You could always pull the cover and inspect the retainers but they were beefed up to handle this type of silliness.
Most times you wont notice the over rev damage until you drop a valve. It's the silent killer.

The first thing to go would be bending the exhaust valves at 10,700. The idle would be lumpy, and you'd hear puffing and light popping out the tailpipe.
I'm pretty confident it takes 11k or more to split an AP2 retainer. I think you are ok.
