Default sweet smell...

recently when my car gets warm it smells really sweet. like something is cooking. kinda like sugar burning. i checked coolant and it's not leaking into my head (car only has 10k miles too) and i dun get why my car is smelling this way. one thing i can think of is i used california mother's clay bar and detailed it. may be my hood is getting hot and california mother sprays are burning off? any idea what that smell is coming from? i am just worried if it's my coolant leaking into my cylinder but i highly doubt that.

first thing i thought of hearing 'sweet smell', is coolant. you could have a small leak somewhere. do a really good check under the car.

i m not using any coolant meaning i didn't add any. my car only has 10k miles and coolant level is within the range. i didn't notice any coolant leaking though but i guess i will have to double check.

definitely sounds like ethyl glycol... i know because my car is leaking anitfreeze... try putting some cardboard under the car when you park it.... also, does it smell inside the car when you turn the Air on?

last time i drove is when i first smelled it. and i had top down probably heater on low. i was smelling it. then few days later i started my car waited 2-3 min to warm up and by the time i got in my car i was already smelling it top down also. i will check it again when i get home.

it's such a bitch to jack up my car to take a look underneath the car though. it's sitting only 3 inches from ground.

thats what the cardboard is for... so you dont need to jack it up. If you do lift it up, look for a salty residue on parts of the car that might show where it has leaked from.

Im guessing by the input under your name you have a MY00. The top and bottom of the S2000 radiator is plastic(just like most all honda radiators). Regardless of milage plastic deterates over time. Could be a VERY small crack in your radiator. Thats what happend to me. I could smell it but couldnt ever really find the leak. It finaly got bad enough i could see it dripping. I just bought an all aluminium koyo race radiator. Just somthing to consider.
