Default Swapping from F22 to F20

I have an AP2 right now and have always wanted that 9k redline. Seems as though the AP1 guys are opting for AP2 trannies to fix some of their low end problems. I figure it would be easy enough for me to find someone willing to swap their F20 for my F22 (still up in the air about this) and keep my tranny to get the best of both worlds.

Aside from swapping the actual engines and ECU, specifically, what other components need to stay with the engine for the swap. Of course, the instrument cluster would go as well. What worries me is that I'd have to gut half the car's electronics to make this work.

Opinions, comments welcome.

Nah, I like they styling and everything about the AP2. If I bought an 03, then I'd have to get new headlights, bumpers, repaint b/c I want my stripes back, buy new wheels, etc, etc. Engine swap makes more sense. I'm not dead set on doing it, I just want to know how dedicated I would have to be to make it happen.

Have you looked into revving your engine to 9k? I know there are some F22 guys doing it and I have yet to hear of one blowing up b/c of it. I think the AP1 ECU plugs right in.

Yes I think they early models need the late model tranny and the late models need the early model tranny. That would seem to fit better for each. Give the early models a little more low end grunt and not let the later models not run out of gear so early.

Now the Ultimate would be to put the early cam and springs in your engine, but then that wouldn't be a good swap for the FC20 guy. Well actually I guess the ultimate would be just to put the Toda cams & springs in your 2.2.

I have a couple of spare 04 engine/trannies but was going to use them on race cars so I didn't even think about the electronics being different for the dash.

Swapping ecus might be the easiest thing for you to do. I already have my 00 ecus for my 2.2s.

I thought about switching to the earlier ECU, but it seems to me that it would just be a huge problem waiting to happen. I like revving my engine and I'd like to do it reliably. I don't baby my car. I take it to the track and have put 30k miles on the first year. I think I would have blown something up if it was revving to 9k on my 2.2. I.e., I'd rather be safe than sorry. I don't want to compromise the reliable fun this car can offer.

The only blown 2.2s revving to 9k that I have seen here have come from people getting greedy and using an aftermarket ecu device to get too lean and they keep doing that on the 2.0s as well.

I have seen several posts along the lines of "I have run my 2.2 to 9k for 14 years now with nary a problem"

I thoroughly intend to, but then again mine won't be my street car

honestly, not to rip on you, this is the most asinine post ive ever seen.
people pay thousands of dollars, to go throuh the trouble to buy any number of stroker kits available to have more displacement. toda with 2.2,2.3 and now 2377 cc, 2.4 stroker kits. and inline pros 2.5 liter. why in the hell would you wanna go smaller? unless you were running huge boost or nitrous, in which case im a small motor fan. please do tell me why you would retrofit your car? im sure the nearest ap1 guy would LOVE to have your motor. 9 k isnt all that special, sounds cool, but when you get beat by the guy your racing who has the larger engine, well, it wasnt worth it now was it.

search google video (beta) and just put in s2000, watch the honda s2000 tuned track battle. listen to J's car with the F22. and the other 2 with F20's youll be convinced instantly. other than the fact that he downshifts the car too far, and spits a piston out the side, the car runs sick. lates
