Swapping Engines....which clutch/flywheel would you use? PICS INCLUDED
Are AP1 and AP2 clutch and flywheels interchangeable?
If I swap flywheels would I have to balance it in any way?
I have a blown f20c with an aluminum flywheel I can't identify and a somewhat worn but useable ACT clutch.
You might not be able to see from the crappy photos, but theres some heat marks on the pressure plate & flywheel friction surfaces. The lining was wearing evenly and they're smooth to the touch. There's also some wear on the pressure plate fingers where they ride against the throwout bearing. The clutch plate has good meat on it tho, and it worked well in the car before the motor went tits up.
The AP2 motor I'm swapping in has an OEM flywheel and clutch in it. I took the pressure plate off to inspect the disc and friction surfaces. They've worn unevenly, not really sever but uneven. They are smooth and would likely clean up nice. I could just be some grease that got on there maybe.....
What would you guys use? Is the aluminum flywheel and ACT really that much of an upgrade?

You do not need to balance the flywheel but you should have it resurfaced before you reassemble. If it were me, I would put a new clutch in.
However, if you are set on using one of the two you have, I would use the ACT clutch setup since you say you see uneven wear on the oem setup.

I would use the OEM disc if it measures over .305.
I would not use that ACT disc unless you want nasty clutch buzz.
Alum flywheel is hit or miss I'm not a fan of them either.
