Since it appears you just want to reduce the number of gears in the tranny for no stated reason, try skip shifting for now.
did you read the first post at all?

This is how it looks inside.
You can not re-arrange gears.

What you want is (I think) to end up with only 2 gears, 2nd and 3rd and you want 2nd where 1st was on the shifter (towards you and forwards) and 3rd where 2nd was (towards you and backwards).
Right?

I think you can't relocate or modify the shiftforks.
Maybe you can create special shift rods - remove the pivot points or something.
Or fabricate a special shifter that will let you select 2nd as if you're selecting first.

I guess you could remove the synchro's & gears of the gears you don't want, you may need to create long spacers or something.
The fixed gears you could machine, allthough they are hardened and you probably need to grind first.. or all of it.

Take & post pictures!

Yes silly and in the FIRST post he didn't mention weight savings. My word... your post is just as silly as the idea of saving weight in the tranny by reducing it from 6sp to 3sp.

You can get the car down to 2200lbs according to hot innovations videos. Check out youtube OP.

Well, my car is 2250 with a supercharger, water to air intercooler, heat exchanger, and 1/2 tank of gas.

I am trying to find another ~75-100 lbs to remove from the car. When you get to where I am with the car, every pound counts.

Right?
Exactly.

The 1-2 shift is a lot easier to make than the 2-3 and is the main reason for wanting to move the gears inside the case.

Thanks for the input.

if you do what you say you will loose reverse (its built onto 1st gear)

Why not just gear it so 2nd tops out at 80mph, all you'd need is 1st and 2nd.. pretty much exactly the same thing you said before but using 1st and 2nd instead of 2nd and 3rd.

it wouldnt be much to build spacers to take up 3rd though 6th.

I just did a quick calculation...

3rd on a stock ap2 trans with a 23.5 inch tire will get you 79 in 3rd...

Probably a new tranny, carbon drive shaft, plus lighter diff and all alu suspension components are in order.
