Default Swapping and deleting gears in the transmission

Is it possible to relocate/remove gears within the transmission? I would like to remove 1st gear set and put 2nd gear set in its place. Then, I would want to put 3rd gear in thw location where 2nd was. Finally, I want to remove 4th-6th gear sets.

I am sure that the answer is no, but thought that I would see if anyone has experience or knowledge of how to do this.

I'm guessing this would be for a high horsepower race car? similar to a 2 speed powerglide for an 1/8th or 1/4 mile drag car.

The main goal of this is to allow me to run a 23.5" tire and achieve ~75 mph in third at 8600 rpm. To do this I will have to run a 4.7 final gear and use an AP1 tranny. Running a 4.7 gear on a 23.5" tire virtually elimiates the need for 1st gear.

For autocrossing, 4th-6th are useless and dead weight that I want to get rid of.

Crazy......Yes. But I need to find out if I can do this before going really crazy and try to make a Jerico Transmission mate up to the S2000 engine.

Jason, I have a spare AP1 transmission already partially disassembled in my garage. You can have it if you want to experiment. Shoot me a PM if you want it.

I would suspect that, at the very least, you would have to custom machine some spacers to press onto the shafts in order to take up the spaces occupied by gears, or perhaps just have the teeth milled off of the gears.

No it's not, the construction of the tranny does not allow for swapping of gears.

Most folks change gear ratios through the differential. Since it appears you just want to reduce the number of gears in the tranny for no stated reason, try skip shifting for now.

Driver better be 5'4 and 50lbs to worry about gear weight.
