Default suspension kinda rough, car bounching around

this isn't specifically for my s2000, but maybe somebody knowledgeable can help me out

during corning, on a smoothly paved rough my car (the rx-7) feels great. but if the pavement isn't perfectly even the car gets very bouncy. kinda scary. almost feels like the car is hopping around. i have the tein ha coilovers. currently it's set to 7 or 8 from hardest. i've tried setting it to 10 from hardest, but think it still doesn't help that much. is this normal? The Spring Rate is 10 kgf/mm (559 lbs/in) front and 8 kgf/mm (449 lbs/in) rear.

I ask because in the s2000 i feel the suspension is also pretty stiff, but when hitting bumps in the corners it seems like the s2000 is able to handle it better. it doesn't seem to get as bouncy and darty.

thanks

ok, after searching found out the spring rate on the s2000 is a lot less, so maybe that explains it.

How does the spring rate on the S2000 have anything to do with the behavoir of your RX7?

The problem is that your springs are overpowering your shocks (or rather, your shocks can't deal with the spring rates you're running). Hence the bouncing.
I have no idea what the spring rates are supposed to be on an RX7, but I'd say you've most likely got them set too high. How much preload are you running? What's your ride height? How much sag?
If you can't answer these, then it's no wonder you've got issues. I'd say bring it somewhere that does suspension tuning and let them set the car up for the road.

i'm using the s2000 as a reference, maybe i shouldn't be. they both weigh about the same and after some searching the stock spring rates for both cars are in the same ballpark. the new spring rate for the rx7 is about double stock. so i reason (maybe incorrectly) that the bouncing around is "normal." if the spring rate on the s2000 was also in the 500s then i would begin to wonder why it doesn't bounce around in the s2000 while it does in the rx7.
