Supercharger install-engine management
guys i just got purchased a sc for my S, what would be the downfall to not purchasing a separate engine management, i have called several shops for install quotes, some say no prob, the module that comes with the kit is enough and i have others telling me that the engine will probably die if I don't get something like AEM management or something like it... what is your opinions? any input is appreciated..
Thanks
Thanks

- don't even worry about it, unless you are looking for more HP (bigger injectors/smaller pulley/etc.)
- plenty of people have had their SC for years without problems..

I ran my vortech as it came out of the box for a while and was fine, then i opted for the vafc which is the cheapest "fuel management" device you can get. I got quite a few ponies by just adding the VAFC too...

2K3S2000, if you dont mind me asking...what shop/tuner are you considering for the install? I'm in Miami, pretty new to the forum, and also interested in a SC. Would be cool to know you results. Thanks.

Which SC? Some Vortech kits run lean "out of the box" (sometimes dangerously so) and WILL need to be tuned via piggyback or standalone. You won't know until you get on the dyno with a wideband 02 sensor, which I would recommend you do b4 you start running it hard.

A wideband a/f gauge is a good idea. I think AEM's uego can stand alone and then could be added into an aem system later should you go that way.
Another thing you might want to do now is pull a compression test. Write the results under your plug cover. Good baseline for later.
The SC mod is fun

thanks for the recommendations, Erick S am still researching on where to take it. I want to make sure it's someone reputable and that my car will be taken care of while there.. as well as a clean install.
I got a Vortech SC, with Aftercooler. I might just get the VAFC just to have something extra to do a little tunning, can't really afford the AEM right now.. maybe a year or so down the road.....
As soon as I decide on a shop and the install is done I'll let you guys know the outcome... wish me luck!
Thanks, it's great to have this forum where we can share on experiences as well as knowledge..
