Supercharger Hesitation - Please Help!
I recently installed a comptech S/C and have been working on a resolution to a problem - I had it dynoed and the car stopped reving at 8500 rpm as if it hit a rev limiter and since I have done the following, soldered my ESM instead of the crimp connectors switched plugs to a one step cooler NGK, tightened my belt, new map sensor, cursed and stomped the ground! for the most part it runs great during a quick acceleration but tonight I was adjusting my shift light and was driving it and holding the rpm,s at 8500 and it was doing this again - I thought I had it figured out - any ideas???

Comptech had me check the voltage on my ESM and it was right on, I don't know if that eliminated that from the problem or not but Comptech believes it is fine! also, while I was holding high RPM the check engine light flashed!

Isn't the flashing CEL an indicator of a misfire? Have you checked A/F ratios?

A random misfire DTC would be a P0300. I'm not sure where you got a T71-9 from. A flash code would be a 71, but that could also be a P0301.
You really need the OBDII code to be sure what the Actual DTC is.
What gap are you using on the NGK's? They should be NGK stock # 7173, R5672A-8's. Any where from .30-.35 should be a good gap. Mine are at .35
What voltage is the ESM set to clamp map signal? I believe Comptech presets them tho 2.9V. I see about 2.85V on in my area on the BARO sensor, This is the Voltage my Map clamp is set at. When the MAP sensor V's go over the BARO, strange things start to happen.Essentially the PCM sees a manifold pressure over atmostspheric pressure. As we all know the stock PCM does not understand positive manifold pressure or boost.
When my E-Manage was 1st installed I used 2.9V as the MAP clamp. The engine would misfire right around 8500. I switch the MAP clamp to 2.85V and It ran perfectly up to the redline. The strange thing about this is the MAP clamp was doing it's job since 4000 rpm.

the T71-9 code is a honda code according to my buddy at the shop, I did gap the 7173's to .34 and I checked the voltage and it was exactly at 2.9 - the ESM has small ports to check with a probe - 8500 is the exact rpm that my car dies at - keep in mind a quick acceleration I have no problems but a sustained rpm it just gives out and sputters - I will recheck my plug gap but it did this before I put the new plugs in! Thanks for the help!
