supercharged, which engine oil do you use?
I was just curious as to which oil all you supercharged guys are running. I was reading Mobil1's website and got this info...
Mobil 1 0W-20 is the ideal product for high revolution and output four and six cylinder cars where a 0W-20 or 5W-20 viscosity lubricant is recommended.
Mobil 1 10W-30 is approved for all type of vehicle models and types of driving.
Mobil 1 15W-50, Motor Sport Formula (EU) and Performance Driving Formula (NA), exceeds the requirements of the industry and car manufacturers' standards required for high-performance turbo-charged, supercharged gasoline and diesel multi-valve fuel injected engines. Mobil 1 15W-50 is a winning race proven technology. It is especially suited for high-speed highway, towing, and other severe service situation. Mobil 1 15W-50, Motor Sport Formula (EU) and Performance Driving Formula (NA), provides extra heavy-duty engine oil performance and protection for the winning edge. Mobil oils are the official oils of NASCAR.
Would I be better using 1 or the other? or would any of them be good? stock cars I know 10w30....but just curious with the supercharger......
Also do you get 3000 miles or do you tend to have to put more in?
I just got my supercharger installed and have been keeping an eye on my oil.

I would probably run a heavier vis with significant heat stress fortitude and shear stability. A 5w40 like Mobil1 Delvac would be excellent - it has significant amounts of ester so it will resist heat degradation on the rings, and the accompanying residue that can be left. It is highly detergent, has a very high TBN (higher than normal M1) so it will resist acidification, and higher amounts of anti-wear compounds to boot. RedLine 10w40 would be a good choice as well. Delvac can be found for less money though. You can get 4 1-gallon jugs for under $100. There is very little or no power loss with this extra vis, as it is highly lubricious. UOA's on this product are uniformly excellent, where regular M1 will often show higher rates of iron, although it is not clear whether that is from M1's ability to cleanse oxidized steel parts in cars that are driven less than everyday.

But since many respected members have run all sorts of mods using 10w30 and the field reporting seems positive, it is hard to say that a quality 10w30 synoil is a bad choice. I do think you will want a synoil, esp. for its heat properties: it resists heat, and carries heat away from hot metal mnore effectively than minoil.

I run Mobile One 10-30 and the small HAMP oil filter. I think Castrol, Redline, Amsoil are all great choices. To the guy that buys the cheapest he can at quick lube: The oil may not be a big deal, but their cheap, crappy filters wouldn't be put on my minibike, yet alone my expensive S2000!!!! They will let you bring your own quality filter if you want to go that route.
