How the hell would this transmission hold up to that?
There were problems with the clutch slave cylinders leaking or even bursting with too much pedal pressure. There are a couple known cases of the exedy causing the slave cylinder leak.
Competition Clutches are trying to cover their backs saying it'll hold about 500rwhp but I'm sure it'll be able to hold onto a lot more as well. I was going for about 745 flywheel~630rwhp and I was assured the clutch would hold up fine but, he's only gonna say it holds 500
Give me a PM if you're looking to get one from competition clutches. I was told I can get a group buy going if there's enough interest.

I'm waiting for a call back from ATS to see how much torque their carbon clutch with carbon coated flywheel will hold. With our car, I think most clutches will hold a lot more HP than a low reving car with lots of torque and HP. What do you think ?

For clutches, you use torque as a the unit to measure with. Not HP. Just that everyone is so accustomed to using HP...might as well.
The clutch I'm using is suppose to be more streetable than the exedy. We'll see I guess.
If I had the extra $$$ to shell out, I'd get the carbon/carbon setup. It'll last longer and hold better. My friend has a twin disc carbon clutch on his supra and it's incredibly rough in between shifts. He is a horrible driver and it is also a twin disc, so maybe that's the reason why.

500hp at 9000rpm is about 291 lb-ft of torque. It should be pretty easy to find a clutch to handle that.

OK, I've made my choice. I ordered the ATS carbon clutch with a carbon coated flywheel. Total price was $1510 including FedEx shipping from Japan. Good for about 360 ft-lbs of torque. The whole thing - flywheel, clutch and PP weighs a few ounces over 14 lbs. Should be interesting. Hope to have the shortblock back in about 4 to 5 weeks, so it will be at least 6 weeks before I can report on the clutch.

i just got the exedy clutch for my supercharger. almost stalled it 4 times. i need help
I've tried to warn people, if you're using the Exedy 6 puck, you're going to hate it!
That clutch blew. I'm much happier with the ACT HD PP and street disc.

I am currently using a clutch masters stage 4, the grab inbetween gears is fairly good and I JUST have to have a soft pedal feel, so thats why I chose clutch masters. The disc doesnt impress me, only because it looks as if it will last about 3 months if you drive the car hard.I am waiting to get my car back from the shop with about 390-420 rwhp on boost...soooo I guess we will see how good clutch masters really is.I know I ll be in the market for a new clutch in NOoo time. but I really dont want a hard pedal feel for an everyday car ..I guess I ll worry about when I get there
fperra- any hp numbers after the head gasket install?
Thnks.

Hi guys,
I suggest you get your self a twin Plate OS GIKEN clutch, it is the only clutch that could handle over 500hp from the wheels, the single clutches only handle 500hp from the flywheel, also you guys have better start thinking about on how to make your gearboxes stronger, I have blown 3 gearboxes in the past not to mention the diffs and driveshafts. If you are planing on making huge HP think about the rest of the drivetrain.
Cheers
