Honda told me they checked the map sensor and the numbers all read good, yet when you smack it around, it seems to work better. Just wanted to thank everyone for the numerous threads on this subject. I do this about as often as I change the oil. I've been through 3 Map Sensors replaced by the dealer under warranty so far. You'd think they'd correct the problem by now.

I got the same runaround from my dealer about the CEL, but I just kept asking if there was anything they could do. I asked to give the mechanic a test drive and did the following.
After reproducing this problem, they went ahead and replaced the MAP sensor for me.
I've told them about the S2KI Map Sensor Tap fix , and they say that it should have no effect. I have done this numerous times with more successes than failures, so I'm a firm believer that it works.
- Run highway speeds for about 10 minutes
- Pull into bumper to bumper traffic and sit through a few red lights.
- Let the "heat soak" take effect and reproduce the "lurching/bogging" syndrome.

I happened to run into 2k3yellows2k over the weekend. My car has been at the dealership due to a hesitation. The dealership didn't have a MAP sensor in stock so they placed an order for one.
I took 2k3yellows2k for a ride because he was interested in hearing my comptech exhaust. My car ran fine during that ride, no hesitations what so ever.
Later in the day on Saturday while driving up 287 in NJ, up into the hills, the hesitation came back in full force. This time the CEL came back on. I didn't have a chance to whack the MAP ( got home late Sat and went to the horrible Giants game on Sunday ).
I'm going to pull off the sensor and give it a couple of whacks tonight. I'll post some results when I get a chance.

Tom, i spoke to the mechanic for you and i told him how we fix our map sensors, he said he will look into it alittle more when you bring it back. He thought it was very funny how we fix our mapsensors. Thanks for the ride again.

mechanic said the obd II reveals a incorrect TPS reading
We told him to SMACK IT!!!! He replaced it with a civic MAP sensor and everything is fine. Another option for you guys.
