Default Stupid map sensor!!!!!!

Well after bringing my car to the dealership 3 or 4 times and them telling me they can't tell me why my car hesitates, i finally tried the s2ki.com method of fixing hesitation. I unscrewed the map sensor, gave it a couple of taps with a rubber mallet and put it back on and guess what....problem solved. Honda told me they checked the map sensor and the numbers all read good, yet when you smack it around, it seems to work better. Just wanted to thank everyone for the numerous threads on this subject. It really works.

well, ive been trying to keep up wtih all the map sensor threads due to having the same problem. I think its not a continuous thing so Honda won't see the problem every time. I think eventually all of us with this problem will have it get so bad that the problem will be detected easily by Honda but until then. Keep on smacking it around.

2k3yellows2k, can you further explain the problem(symptoms) you were having? i know you said the car "hesitated",but can you be more specific?

Actually the problem started about a month ago, my car had very bad hestitation problems at low rpms, so bad, that i thought i had bad gas and had the car towed to the dealership cause the hesitation was making the car undrivable. They could not figure out was wrong with the car but it seemed to clear up and fix itself. The hesitation was not as noticable but WAS still there. Then over the past 3 weeks it got real bad in vtec, anytime i would get around 7k rpm it really really hesitate and the car just wasn't going anywhere over 7k rpm.I stayed away from vtec for about 2 weeks althought the car was still sluggish in low rpm's too. Did the trick with the map sensor and i've been reving my car out for 2 days now and seems fine. I hope this helps some people with similiar problems.

I was getting the same hesitation, only around 7500rpm. Disconnected the map sensor, gave it a few whacks, reconnected, and it runs like new.

Honda dealers can't accept this as it makes no sense to them. Made no sense to me either, but it works like a charm.

(None of the dealers could fix my problem either, they told me it was because I didn't change the oil every 2k miles and I'd destroyed the motor... gotta love that Honda service!)
