Try a cusco "U" brace, its light and does not get in the way of an oil change, and made a small difference on my car as to turn in response. So much that I wont be taking it off any time soon.
Yeah right, I have the U brace and it does NOTHING... in fact its held on by a 10mm bolt on one end.. or was it a 12mm? Either way its placebo.

IMHO.....

There is no brace (stb, X, frame, all) aside from a weld in rollcage, that can stiffen any aspect of this car even the slightest degree.

What about a roll bar/cage? I would consider a 4-point like a Cusco if it were a bolt-in. Are there any other choices besides Cusco (which I would have to repaint). I'm 6'1" and I would feel a little safer with something over my head. I don't run it on the track so no need to meet requirements, just a little extra protection in case I rolled it.

I did find this "Hard Dog" but it looks like it would prevent the seats from moving all the way back which is very important in my case. http://www.bethania-garage.com/s2000.htm

Well then if the one you had on your car does nothing, then toss it. I only said it made a small differance when turning in a corner. It wont do much more than that.
