Default Stroker kit vs. Supercharger ?

I'm guessin that this has been discussed over and over again, but the search and advanced search functions aren't working for me, (so any links would be appriciated)

I know your gonna get more power from the SC but what about reliability and maintenence for a daily driver? I saw a 2.3 Stroker kit for the same price as a SC ( I know labor would be much more ) that claimed 280hp, anyone know if thats at the wheels or flywheel. Also what kinda torque increase could you expect.

Thanks, and sorry if this has been posted before, and before again.

the stroker kit will be more reliable as long as lots of r &d were put into it. The only problem with stroking a motor is the fact that you are making the r/s ratio worse, and on a motor that spins to 9k that isnt a real good idea. Just my .02

you are looking at a little less then 236 horsepower to the wheels. which isn't bad at all, but to me does not justify the pricetag.

See the following threads, each of which has some valuable data concerning stroker kits and/or building the head and/or block.

Good luck to you bud.

2.3L seems like a very tempting project.

just think:::

extrude honed head that has oversized valves with the ports hoggedout

nice valvetrain with titanium retainers

toda or spoon cams

stroked bottom end with 12.5:1 cr

all the boltons and shift around 10.5k

as long as that motor would hold together that would be one helluva beast

You'd be dropping the rod ratio down to about 1.5 assuming the pin height is the same - not good for prolonging engine life. Especially at 10,500 rpm.

Also, extrude hone is junk and anyone who blindly hogs out a port should seek alternate employment. IMHO.
