I've found if you use a high quality 6mm hex socket, and square it up on the bench grinder so it grabs all the way down, you'll never strip them again. The socket I use now, I square up with each job. Been about 4 cars so far, none stripped yet.

Thumbs up

so if these bolts are not stripped upon removal, do they still need to be replaced (per factory service manual it says to replace all)?

I'm doing a clutch job this weekend, and I'm hoping I can put it all back together after I'm done. Too late to have order these bolts for saturday. Sure wish I had seen that in the manual earlier, never guessed those would be a replacement part.

Many of us have reused them.

If they come out easy, and the hex is is nice shape to properly re-use them , go for it

duely noted. I will try to be careful with them on removal

billman, I'm starting to think you are stalking my posts. I think you have answered each one of my questions since I arrived here a few weeks ago.

Been there done that. I took it to the diff shop and had them pull it. They welded a bolt on and got it out that way.

billman ... what are you doing exactly when you say that you "square" them up? Not sure I understand what you are referring to.
