Strange Tin/Rattle Sound Around 3200-3600 RPM
Hey guys. I have an 07 s2k with just a testpipe, intake, and importantly flashpro. The noise only came about 2 weeks ago. It started when I was tuning the flashpro. Even before then, I was running with flashpro for over a year without any issue. It started happening when I was tuning the car to run lower vtec...vtec set to 3800. The noise doesn't happen all the time but maybe 3-4 times now. I noticed it more last night when I was out doing some logs. Toward the end of the logging session (after maybe 10 or so 0-8K RPM run) I can hear it. It is more pronouce in the lower gear around 3k-4k. It would last for a few stop and go and then it would disappear.
can it be TCT? can setting vtec low cause it?
even before all of this, the test pipe with stock exhaust does make a tin can sound but I don't think its that. A/F and timing looks good without any knock.
at idle and revving it up to 3k-4k, it doesn't make the sound. sound normal at idle and startup. Drove the car this morning and didn't hear it at all.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Maybe check your exhaust header heat sheild, if it is cracked like mine is it will rattle like that as RPM's rise or fall into that range then stop as RPM is above or below the resonant frequency of the sheild. Annoying but not harmful except to the heat sheild...
As far as the TCT there are tons of videos with TCT noise to be found by a search. The TCT noise is unmistakeable. If it is your TCT Billman250 is the man to PM...

it sounds like it might just be the exhaust header heat shield tends to loosen up but if its comming more from the bottom of the car then its maybe your test pipe thats somewhat loose my friend had the same problem and i told him just to check and i was actually right lol
