Strange Rubbing Noise
I searched to no avail.
I have this strange rubbing noise which is coming from the front end of the car. I can't really tell if it is the drivers side, passengers side, or center of the front. It is a rubbing noise, not a scraping noise. Does not sound metallic.
It varies with my speed, and isn't a constant hum. It is rotational, as in, it rubs, doesnt rub, rubs, doesnt rub, rubs, etc. It also varies by speed, the faster I go, the faster the rubbing.
I can't feel anything in the transmission or suspension or anything. I thought it may have been a wheel bearing, but I have checked them out and they are fine. Also, the noise does not vary at all if I turn the wheel sharply in either direction, still the same noise.
The noise is also not present in reverse at all.
The best way to describe the noise, and what I first thought it was, it sounds like the fender liner is rubbing the wheel or something of that sort.
It isn't rubbing anywhere in the wheel well or on any of the suspension components. Nothing to do with the brake backing plate/cooling plate (whatever its called). I do not see any strange wear on the tires to say they are rubbing.
My front rotors are warped and will be replaced soon, so will my brake pads, but it is nothing to do with the brakes as the noise does not vary when I push the brakes.
Also, the noise is there whether I am in gear or not.
My car is lowered on Espelir ASD springs, stock struts/shocks.
Does anyone have any idea what the noise can be? I have looked and looked many times, but I haven't the slightest idea what this noise can be.
Thanks

Hello.
I have the same problem.
I changed my front rotors this year.
I have S03 bridgestone 17 " (7000 miles).
The weather seems make a difference. If the hot the noise is smaller.
If the noise continue, i will change my front bearing next summer.
Bye

non metal..... ap1 front bumpers are quite weak and at high speed such as 130+ are known to rub against the tire...but it sounds like this is even at very low speeds. I'd give it a check anyways, perhaps it's a bit warped?
Just a thought.
I'd still say brake related from your reference to warped rotors and the prior response to mine.
