Default Strange rear clicks/metallic squeak

I just recently noticed that there are constant, speed dependant rear clicking noise from my car.

It only happens when I have driven in the city for quite a while though and it's hard to replicate the noise on demand.

The frequency of the clicking noise increases with speed and it doesn't matter if I am going straight, turning, or in neutral

What could be the cuase of this?

I used to have the similar sound but after I replace the axle nut (re-torqued) the sound went away. I think you should give it a shot.

yes that's what I was thinking too, but from what I read I thought the axle nut would only cause a single click. but yes I would like to give it a shot.

I just had my axle nut re torqued and my click went away, but that only clicked like once or twice when starting from a stop. So your click seems like it is from something different.

Done a brake job recently? Maybe you bent the dust cover behind the rotor?

had brake job done quite a while ago.
Then again the noise only comes up when the car seems to be really warmed up.
Could this be because it's after the brakes are warm?

here's the way this works: if your axle nuts haven't been torqued to 220 lb/ft, then eventually they will likely allow enough wear/play in the wheel bearing/hub assembly to start causing some damage. this starts as a clicking, which sounds like a cv joint going bad. re-torquing the axle nut should quieten this for a while, but the noise indicates that at least some level of damage has occurred, and it will come back; after a while, you will get a kind of metallic sounding rotational squeak, and now the time has come to replace your wheel bearing and/or hub (see this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry12436776) my personal experience was that the clicking was intermittent, and didn't seem to be affected by heat, but once the metallic squeak appeared, it only occurred after the car had been driven for a while. good luck
