Default Strange rattling noise from engine around 4-5k rpms?

Ok so I have an 01 s2k that buddy was suppose to buy today but there is a strange sound coming from the engine and I'm not sure what it is. I'm thinking possibly the tct which I'm going to pull apart tomorrow but I want to get people's opinion.

It sounds like a really loud heat shield rattle around 3500 rpms up to about 5000 rpms and it sounds like it's coming from the intake side of the motor but I can't pin point it. Maybe from something on the serpentine belt or timing chain being stretched?

Any help is appreciated thanks

Try a valve adjustment, but first take a mechanics (stespescope) SP.? Listen to the valves, that's probably your problem.

I have the same problem, although mine only really does it when cold/not fully warmed up, all my heat shields are perfect, I even removed the CAT incase it was loose inside (it wasn't) my valves clearances are spot on, will be watching this thread with interest.

Idont think it's valves because at idle and anything under 3k rpms it doesnt do it at all. I'll take a video and try and post it today so you can see what I mean. It doesn't sound internal it sounds external but I'm pulling the tct off today and sand blasting it to see if that's the problem.

ok so i just got done sand blasting the tct and putting it back together and it didn't fix anything, the noise happens a little around 3k rpms then clears up until about 4k rpms and is really really noticable from 4-5k rpms and then clears up somewhat after that.

The honda master tech here in my town is suggesting possibly the timing chain being stretched?
Like I posted earlier I will try and get a video of the noise and post it
