strange humming sound from rear...UPDATED WITH VIDEO
Hi guys,
The last few days I noticed a humming sound coming from the rear of the car. It’s only at high speeds and only when I give the car gas. It’s like a higher pitched humming sound, but I don’t feel any vibration. During normal street driving, under 55 mph I hear nothing. Rear end was changed with Mobil 1 maybe 2K miles ago but I can’t see how it’s a diff issue. Any ideas? The car drives fine, and what strikes me as the most odd is that I hear its only on the highway when giving the car gas.. Maybe the diff mounts are worn out?

Couple ways to check the wheel bearing is to Jack up the car (and support it) and grab the top and the bottom of the wheel and see if there is any play.
After driving you can also feel the wheels on both rear sides and see if one is hotter than the other. If one side is...it could be a bearing or also a stuck caliper/brake pad.

Funny you mention a caliper as twice now ive heard two loud snaps that seem to come from the passengers rear..could be a bad/stuck caliper...

Definitely check for stuck/seized caliper. Does it pull to the right or anything.

Ya know it does pull to the right when i hit the brakes..i had the front brakes done about a month ago. i was told it pulls due to the tire pressure but i checked and it was good all the way around the car. I have another member coming by my place to take a ride with me tomorrow and see what the sound is. Its driving me crazy at this point and has me worried...
