This issue is that your wheel bearing is going bad.
Tightening the spindle nut clamps down on the bearing which holds things together for a while more, but it'll still fail eventually.

Sure, it's possible gernby and I had special cases.
In mine, I had slight popping when first starting off. Had the TSB done, no other issues. Then some time later (don't remember exactly, perhaps about a year ~15k miles) I got the popping noise plus a warbling under various conditions. Again did the TSB, noise stopped for a little while then started up again just as bad.
One way to check - loosen the spindle nut then try to wiggle the wheel around. My right side, which was NOT making the noise, was still solidly mounted. The left side however had a fair bit of play in it. I believe that was a symptom of the bearing failure.
Characteristics of the warble - worse at slow speeds, worse at steady speeds, worse when turning left.
Also, I autocross and track a lot, which I imagine puts a lot of stress on the bearing.
Hardtopguy is an awesome source for parts, by the way.

It's highly possible that the nut backing off led to the early bearing failure...if caught in time, the problem may never reach as far as the bearing. I imagine this is part of the issue behind Honda raising the torque spec for the nut another 40 ft/lbs.

Yup, mine just started clicking two or three times when first starting off in first gear turning right. Nice to know I'm not alone. I was planning on taking it in soon, and wanted to know what you guys thought. My 01 has 28K on it, and it just started three weeks ago.

I had my inner cv joints replaced from clicking along with the axle nut.....and the next week had to get my whole rear pumpkin replaced....all warranty work. I noticed in a sharp turn reverse the other day I heard one click, sounds like something in my diff trying to bind up.
