King snorkel, i know the EXACT noise you are talking about. sounds like clutch buzz, but quieter/sharper. comes from under the dash on the drivers side.

I wish i knew, I have it too but never looked into it.

I have been noticing the same exact noise. I have come to the conclusion that it is the clutch pedal itself because the slightest amount of pressure will make it stop.

Can the clutch fork transmit noise back through the clutch fluid to the master cylinder?

On the left side small fuse box in the engine bay there is a thick wht/rd I think wire underneath that runs exetremely close to the inner fender . When this wire resonates ( about 3000 rpm ) it makes the sound you describe . If this is your problem you'll also find sings of rubbing on the paint of the inner fender . The clutch pedal rod does resonate too but it's more like rattling and it can be stoped with grease for clutch forks .
I looked for any signs of paint but there is none. I've concluded that the pedal is resonating because just a 1/4 inch of clutch pedal pressure makes it disappear. I've got some time next week so I'll experiment with grease and see if I can change the noise or make it go away completely.

Does your noise go up in frequency as the revs go down? I find the noise kicks in between 3500 and 0.

actually yes it does. it gets louder as the revs go down. definitely sounds like something is making the pedal resonate.

Anybody have any luck finding out what this is?

It just started to happen to me today on an 06.

I kinda hoping it doesn't come back, but if it does my first plan is to inspect the clutch petal/master cylinder linkage.

try this:

remove the shift fork. grease it with high temp grease where it mate to the throw out bearing. if it didn't help. it might have clutch problem.

I blew my clutch master/slave cylinder last week and had both of them replaced. It was bad - my clutch pedal felt like I was stepping on a smushed Twinkie. Not to mention that I had fluid coating my clutch pedal arm...

Anyways, I explained the noise and had my mechanic re-grease any connection points under the dash. Sadly, the noise came back.

I'll look deeper into the clutch fork/throwout bearing connection when I finally change out my clutch but I have a feeling that it will go away when I upgrade to the new OEM disc.
