Default stock shocks OK with 1-1.5" drop ?

i know aftermarket shocks are recommended if youre buying lowering springs

but how does the stock shocks hold up to a 1-1.5" drop?

i highly doubt shocks will just "blow" unless youre doing some heavy racing...
but either way, they will gradually decline in performance a bit faster than
being at stock height; and this is stated on the eibach faq too regarding
the pro-kit w/stockies...

however, since your stock shocks are about 3 yrs old already,
i would take the safer route and just get coilovers

At 1 1/2", your car may suffer from ill handling, but if all your into is bling bling, then have at it.

My car has 19,000 miles on it and it has had Eibach Pro-Kit springs on it for probably 15,000 miles. OEM shocks still kickin'

Although to be honest, I'll be getting myself some Koni Yellows before spring.

depends.. how hard you drive it, road conditions, etc. They could last a very long time, or not long at all..but regardless, they will degrade over time. As long as youy won't be in trouble financially if you start to lose them, and don't mind possible negative handling characteristics, I see no reason to shy away Any shock is going to take a beating and break eventually regardless.. I've broken 3 Koni yellows on my 84 GTI in ~25k miles only being lowered 1" (they're designed to handle moderate loweing).. so no one is safe
