Default stock shift knob orientation

Hello, I recently bought a 2004 silverstone s2000. I love the car, and I just recently upgraded the stereo with the Modfiry DCI which made the steering wheel control work like a charm

Anyways, back on topic. my stock shift knob orientation is not correct. The lettering is facing north west when it should be facing south.

The nut at the bottom of the shift knob is tighten to the point that I can't turn anymore without fearing that I will messed up the threads.

When I remove the nut and put the knob back on, it is facing the right way (south).

Do I need to keep the nut there or should I not be afraid of tightening it more?

The nut is supposed to be tightened against the shift knob, not the base of the shifter. Take a look at this link, I used it for my Fit and the concept should be identical: http://www.bernardiparts.com/Images/...b_AII42201.pdf

Hope that helps you out.

Yes, you want to turn the shift knob until it is in the appropriate position, and then turn the nut upwards until it is tight against the knob.

Thanks for this info. Cause when I got my car back from my mechanic, it was pointing the wrong way as well.

maybe if you use a compass itll help you get that orietation correct

although i heard recently the magnetic poles are shifting, so a compass might not be the best option for you
