isn't the stock pipe 2.25" not 2.5?
yes stock pipe is 2.25"
i had this done about 3 weeks ago(?) and i love it....
its not much louder or does not sound like a rice cooker...but adds a deeper tone
i say u just have it done by a muffler shop it cost me only $40 and 30min
also there is a hanger on the resonator, u should get a hanger welded on to the pipe as well.

Removing a resonator does not free up any power. All it does is removes the raspy tone in the exhaust. It contains no baffles or anything to obstruct exhaust flow.

If a deeper tone is what you are after then an aftermarket muffler would be a better choice. The resonator keeps your exhaust sounding clean and smooth and no 4-cylinder car with a high flow exhaust should be without one IMO.

Off team-integra.net

Resonators are usually installed a couple inches after the cat outlet. The resonator uses the reflection method and will determine the exhaust note based on it's size. The shell of the resonator is sized so that when sound waves enter, they will bouce straight back to the center and be cancelled out by the following sound waves. The longer the resonator, the more sound waves get bounced around and cancelled out. Some exhaust manufacturers will use two smaller resonators instead of one large one.
Doesn't exactly look restrictive does it.

a test pipe will easily add a slightly more aggressive tone to the exhaust as well for around $100 as well as a few extra hp.

Test pipes do increase horsepower, because the replace the highly restrictive catalic conveter. Replacing the resonator with straight tubing however, does nothing.
