Stock Airbox
hey i just got a quick question. what does the stock airbox look like with the cover off. i took the top of the airbox cover off to hear what it would sound like and i found a k&N filter. is that supposed to be there or is the filter supposed to be bunch of filter paper found on most cars?

K&N is not stock. The stock filter has the same cone shape as the K&N but the filter media is green paper, Not the cotton mesh sandwiched by the steel mesh like the K&N. Leave your airbox cover on unless you want to suck up all that hot air.

hey i gotta say that it sounds pretty mean!! i may have to keep it off for awhile cuz it sounds good. i dont race anyways so i guess it dont hurt no one! i think i'm going to gut the box and use a hose and connect it to the bottom to draw up some cooler air. i just hope the sound wont go away?!

IF you want "sound" from your airbox buy a cheap CAI..or short ram intake..I mean who cares about performance as long as it sounds good..o'yeah you better get it pimpin' and blingin' yo!

If you found a K&N air filter underneath the stock box thats a good indication that the previous owner had changed it if the car was used! If the car was purchased brand new then your just looking at the stock cone style air filter, this is not of K&N brand. Also for those with a stock box that is slightly opened for the "sound", your doing nothing for the car but inhaling hot air from the engine, LESS HORSEPOWER! Hope this helps!
