Wgat dealership was this? Anywhere else and it would have been a $2k quote for a new clutch (which yes, would have solved the problem, thereby 'proving' their diagnosis).
I work for corporate Honda and went to a local dealer that hooks it up with us (Scott Robinson Service Center, Torrance CA). Initially they did believe it was the pressure plate or some part of the linkage. We have new slave, greased the rod and have all new fluid so it had to be either in clutch or in the master. Guy thought it had to be mechanical and had seen early 2000 models with some issues.
3 days later we were expecting to hear the damage and he had the best news in the world! lol
