STICKY CLUTCH ISSUE!
Let me know if anyone can help with this issue!
My s2000's clutch had service 54 (clutch buzz) done a few months ago. About 2000 miles after that fix, it started sticking after pressing the clutch down and got to the point where it was hard to depress and it sticks when it comes back up. It's a HUGE pain in the ARSE to drive like this. So I bring in my 01 with 2 months and 2000 miles of warranty to figure out what needs to be done. They come back and state that it needs a new master cylinder and slave cylinder for a total of $373.
I have not called them yet, but shouldn't this be a warranty item? This isn't a wear issue is it? I want a little expert info before I go in there in my "tough guy mode" and demand warranty work.

This 'should' be a warranty fix - unless they can show you neglected to do some sort of scheduled maintenence that resulted in the failure. Make sure you have a written estimate from the dealership showing your mileage (that the problem occured while your S2000 was under warranty. Then it's a matter of looking through the required maint. schedule to see if you missed anything - ie bleeding the clutch system/replacing the fluid. Brake fluid usually is a replace once a year to two year item and if you don't do it, your master/slave cylinder may fail.
Recommendation: Go to a local parts store and buy a brake bleeder kit ($5-$15 bucks) and bleed the clutch a few times to see if that fixes your problem. This will require a good floor jack AND jack stands - or if you have access to a lift, that's even better.

suvh8r,
I had the same problem. The stickiness would return only after the car has been warmed up. I solved it by lubing the shift fork at its pivot point.

it's been 10k miles since the lubrication and so far so good.

Great, thanks for the info. I have heard that this could be the cause but I have not heard from anyone if it in fact does fix it. I'll try to get the service people to try this. I'll report back here if it fixes it as well. Thanks again.

When they did your clutch job, the guy may have cleaned off the shaft the throw out bearing rides on really well and didn't bother to grease it up again. This would cause the similar symptoms.

Well I got the guy to cover the work under warranty. He wants to replace the master and slave cyls. I told him numerous stories that this did not fix the issue and what has worked for other owners was to lube the fork.
Needless to say I may as well been speaking spanish to the guy as they are going to go ahead and repalce the cyls. I suppose I will be bringing the car back in shortly.

THere are no maintainence schedules that say to change the tranny fluid. This was just done during service 54 as well.
This needs to be changed/bled from time to time ... especially if you live in a hot humid climate. This is because brake fluid degrades over time as it absorbs more and more water (and dust etc.).
They will change the fluid when they replace the master and slave cylinder.
The other postings are correct in the stickiness can be caused by an inproperly lubed T/O bearing and/or release bearing fork.
