i dono if the bolts were torqed incorrectly, but that was my guess. But even so on a stock Pressureplate it shouldnt break off. But I had the Exeddy Kit, and my guess was that if the bolts were incorrectly torqed, then the heavy pressure from the pressure plate caused the bolts to break, at least the first one, and the 2nd one was on its way. It was starting bend.
But as for the clutch peadal getting sticky, i noticed, that if the slave cylinder was misangled, you can still engage, and release but you would have to help the pedal back up. But this is from my opinion. It is a easier fix if it is the prob. Than removing the whole transmission bell housing. But I recomend for the slave cylinder to be checked before investing the removal of the tranny.
I had to resurrect this old thread guys as my S2 has just been in the shop with the exact same problem, and I'm not convinced it's been fixed.
A bit of back story (keeping it short).
The cars an 02 that's done around 40,000 miles (some at fast meets )
The clutch and flywheel were replaced at around 35,000 miles due to wear.
I started getting the sticking clutch problem a few weeks back (it only happened when the car had warmed up) it went in and had both master and slave cylinder replaced. All seemed ok for a couple days, but today it felt like it's starting to go again.
What did you guys do to fix yours?
Anyone have any more experience of this?
Help would be appreciated, I can then go to the dealer and provide some "informed advice". Which is more than they usually get from me.
i had the EXACT same problem. i just took it to dealer and they said it was the master cylinder. (which i didnt think was the problem). they made me pop the hood and open the cylinder for the clutch fluid and it was pretty dary. suppose to be clear yellowish color and not the color of motor oil. so the dealer endd up replacing the master cylinder and provided me with new fluid also. free of charge through 100k warranty. hope that helps.
wow.. I have the same problem! I have a 01 S, and my pedel gets a little sticky when pressed down and released, this makes it a little tricky to get the car moving from a stand still without reving the engine a little higher than normal before dropping the clutch.
An update...
Well... It's fixed. Or at least it's better for now.
As I said, the springs and the bushes on the clutch pedal were replaced yesterday.
I also took along this (below) and they re-greased my release fork.

And now all is well.
I don't think they did anything else while it was in, so it was probably one of these.
slave cylinder..... Go look by your clutch pedal and feel above to see if you feel any fluids leaking.. When you pump the clutch, does it get less sticky to the floor??

Yeah.
FYI, The clutch is still feeling fine, but the bite point is very high.
I'm going to be taking her into a "new", and better qualified imho, garage soon for an oil change and a complete check over. Gearbox, clutch, the whole lot.
