You could do that, but it would be easier to call the shop that did the alignment and say, "hey my steering wheel isnt straight, fix it."

Sorry to bring this back form the dead, but I think it has the best chance of answering my question:

I just got my car aligned last night, but the steering wheel is not quite as centered as I would like. I'd rather not go through the hassle of trying to get the car back to the alignment shop and sit around while they remeasure everything to make a small tweak.

Can I just turn the steering rack rod ends an equal amount in opposite directions to change the wheel position without messing up the rest of the alignment?
sorry man, i have had alignments done probably 8 times, and 6 of those times, the tech didn't straighten the wheel properly when doing the job. the other 2 times are the most recent alignments, and i requested that the tech let me straighten the wheel after the alignment gear was hooked onto the wheels.

it blows my mind that someone would do an alignment with the wheel off-center by 3-5 degrees. it's sloppy, unprofessional, and i will never pay for something like that ever again.

hope someone chimes in about you being able to make minor adjustments by yourself. good luck.
