Steering Question/Scenario - Need help
I have a situation that has been driving me nuts for over a month. I had my alignment checked because I noticed that there was a slight drift in the car to the right and that the steering felt more responsive when slinging the car to the left as opposed to the right.
The dealer adjusted the caster based on my complaint and gave me the sheet showing everything was in spec.
My caster: 5.9 left and 6.0 right.
After the alignment i noticed most of the drift was gone but that the Steering wheel still did not return perfectly to center when slinging it to the right and as it does when slinging it to the left, and when slinging it to the left is actually slightly overcompensates to the right still.
I decided to have the tires rechecked and rebalanced twice and the alignment checked again by a third party shop. They also found nothing wrong with the alignment specs. But recommended I go back to the dealer and have them check the steering rack.
I had the two front tires replaced thinking maybe there is a radial pull but that did nothing to change the situation as well.
I had the 10,000 mile service done at the dealer and they said everything looked fine, no uneven tire wear, nothing wrong with the control arms or other suspension parts.
I have recently read that there is something where the Powersteering can be reset. Does it sound like that could be a potential problem or does anyone else experience what I have ?
I think at this point I should probably drive another S2K but before I go back again I wanted to see if someone else could shine some additional light on my situation.
My car has 10,300 miles and never been in any accident.
Thanks

Its going to the shop for the day but I am open to any suggestions as well as to something I could ask them to check that they may not otherwise look for.
Again I had the front tires replaced and all 4 check for wear and balance. Everything checked out fine in that area.
Thanks

When I go tomorrow I will mention the Torque sensor. I dont have that initial pull per say that you mentioned but when i sling the steering wheel it doesnt correct evenly on both sides and maybe either the sensor needs replaced or memory reset. Very interesting none the less.
I will post back after I get the results from the dealer.
Thanks,

So I guess I'm going crazy and maybe when I test drove their 07' it was more of a Placebo effect of being in a new car since it did "somewhat" do what my car did but I felt not exactly the same.
Anyway so much for that at least for now.... I must be going crazy worrying about these things
