STB Install
I just picked up a used Whiteline STB (I know I know, doesn't do much if anything but the price was right so I figured what the hell) and want to put it on the car. Unfortunately, it didn't come with installation instructions, and this being my first STB I'm a little unclear.
Do I need to jack up the car completely, slightly (just enough to take tension off), or do I keep it sitting on the ground?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, seemed most relevent.

Jacking up the car is a good idea to uncompress the suspension.

Did u all use a torque wrench like the instructions say? or just "tightened those mothers"
if you dont use the suggested torque to tighten it, what are the risks or any long term effects?

Just throw it on there. You can't/won't change the alignment, just as you won't change the alignmen by swapping wheels.
The only downside of going super tight on the tophat bolts is that you can break them off if you put too much pressure on them. They aren't meant to be tightenned to 200 ft.lb., so just snug them up and be done with it. Check again in a week or so to make sure nothing's come loose.
