starting up in serious cold
We are in a deep freeze here. Left the car outside for a couple days in -28Celcius, started no problem. The engine complains for about a sec then starts like a charm.
Anyone else starting theirs in some serious cold?

Seems as though this is an S normality. Mine started doing this in the beginning of December ever since getting "cold" here in Oklahoma. Mine usually does it if it drops into the low 30's (F) and below. It'll stumble and stall on the first try and the start up fine on the 2nd.

Yesterday morning, after sitting outside all night at work (-25*C), it cranked a bit slow and then fired right up. This morning, it was -30*C and it barely cranked, but eventually it fired up. I think I need a new battery now. I'm still running 10W30 Mobil 1. It was plugged in both nights.

Many of us in Calgary have been driving this car for several winters. It is the most fun and capable winter car that I have ever owned. Why would I drive something as boring and mundane as a truck?

well ur a very smart guy cause i see u answering questions all over the forums. just dont think i would drive mine during the winter.
Of course, this doesn't mean I don't appreciate those such as yourself, who would prefer to "preserve" their S2000's through the winter months. It's all a matter of preference. I see it that it'll depreciate pretty much the same whether you drive it or store it. May as well get some enjoyment out of it as much as possible.

And Optima will start your car in 1 crank in freezing weather no problem. I had the same problem as you guys, and after switching batteries, no problems at all.

Then I'm wondering if this is an ignition problem. To clarify, my starter has no problems turning over the motor when it's cold. It just seems as though the ECU doesn't like cold and runs the car too rich causing to stall.
