starter motor remained engaged after starting
Had posted 2 weeks ago on this issue ; Was driving to work stopped to make a purchase and started noticed a dead tumble and immediate grinding sound similar to a bad bearing, as I accelerated the noise increased. also sounded like a belt was screeching, when at work I switched off and tried starting it tumbled very dead but started and this time the noise is gone also smoke was observed by the starter area. I removed the serpentine belt tried starting same issue starter turning even slower . I got a replacement battery from a coworker starter still turns slowly close to stalling . And the engine doesn't start, he recommends taping the starter lightly while I tumble, the starter hesitates but turns better and the car starts. I take it home switch off and try starting, same issue starter turning to slow to start engine. When I touched starter motor It was very hot after trying to start @ home. Could the bendix drive have remained engaged after starting from my first stop and caused damage to the starter? Thanks in advance .

Today after finally trouble shooting , it turned out to be the starter switch the push start ie , yes believe it. When I switch the key on the starter solenoid engaged , when pushing the switch fully remains engaged how ever, if pushed half way the switch opens , then pushed fully it engages. Just thought I should post. However my starter was toast.
