Default started up my S for the first time since

Hello all,

I just came back from another deployment last night and this morning I went down to the garage to start her back up and noticed smoke arrising from the exhaust manifold area. Is that normal? what could be the cause of that if it isnt normal? Thanks

Did you clean the engine bay before storing? If you did it might be residue from a degreaser or whatever you used. Probably nothing.

I did spray down the engine bay with WD-40 (recommended by someone on this board) due to the Mice eating the wires...

That was probably it then. Did you drive it or just start it?

It's the grease burning off. Just keep an eye on it while it burns off. It may take a while. Oil levels good with no obvious leaks right?

yep...now another following question...should i rechange my fluids since it's been dormant for a year? ie. engine oil, tranny, and diff? or should i just continue to drive it until the next maintenance cycle?

Wouldn't hurt, but I'm not an oil expert. I'd change the engine oil at least.

I think the fluids should probably be good but changing it wouldnt hurt as SgtB said. Also, did you put fresh gas in it or did you at least put stabilizer in it before you stored it?

For future reference try not to shut the car off without getting it fully warmed up. I understand why you did though.

Go for a drive and just keep an eye on the gauges and see if any lights come on. They probably wont. Obviously if the oil pressure light comes on pull over. Ditto if you start to over heat. I doubt you will though.

BTW if you think youre hearing something strange, you probably aren't. Youre probably just paranoid. I always freak myself out with that. Even after an oil change. LOL.

Good Luck.
