SRS light??????????????
The SRS light came on, went to dealer said that they would have to replace the SRS unit for more money than I have to give them. the said this system controlls the airbags and seatbelts, but if i plan on switching to aftermarket steering wheel and harnesses should I worry about it? does anyone know who to turn this light off????

I don't think you can turn the light off unless you find some way to fool the circuitry. The SRS system does a self diagnostic every time you start the car. If it senses something missing or somthing wrong the light will be on. I suppose you could just put a piece of black tape over the light.

This doesn't completely answer your question, but does give some information.
1) If you change the steering wheel you will lose the driver's side airbag. That will cause an SRS fault light unless you replace the missing circuit with a correctly matched resistor. This was discussed a couple of years ago - I tried to search but came up empty.
2) In order to reset the SRS light you need to use a special tool (or jumper wire) on one of the underdash connectors in a specific sequence. Here's a link to one thread. The light will not reset until you fix the fault, so the easiest solution may be to judiciously use a small piece of electrical tape.
